Spring / Summer Sports

Summer Games will be held in Raleigh & Cary June 3-5, 2016

Basketball
P
ractices are held at Williston Middle School and will end on February 23rd.
Aquatics
Swim practices will start back on February 16th.  Tuesday nights from 6:30-8 pm at the YWCA.
Bowling
Practices will be held at Cardinal Lanes and will begin in early March.  Every Thursday from 3-5pm.
Cheer
Practices are held every Thursday from 5:30-6:30pm at the Northside church.  Practices have already started..
Cycling
We will look into getting cycling started this  year.  Please let us know if you may be interested in participating or  volunteering.

Gymnastics
Practices will be held on Thursday evenings from 6-7 starting January 14 at Port City Gymnastics.
Softball
Practices will be held on Tuesdays at the MLK center starting in early March
Volleyball
Practices will be held at Williston Middle School starting in early March.
2016 Bowling Invitational

2016 Run-N-Plunge Ends

Welcome to Special Olympics New Hanover County, North Carolina. Special Olympics New Hanover County provides year-round sports training, competition, social events and Camp Shriver summer camp for people eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities. In New Hanover County, over 600 athletes participate in Special Olympics. Our program receives no government funding and relies solely on private and corporate support as well as the efforts of over 300 volunteers to provide these services at no cost to the athletes or their families.
 

We have completed another great Run-N-Plunge event that supports Special Olympics New Hanover County (SONHC). Thanks to eveyone that attended the events and supports SONHC as we move into a new sports year for Special Olympics. All money’s collected at the Plunge go to support the athletes in New Hanover County, our athlete pay nothing to particpate in all of our activities that include all sports, Camp Shriver, social events such as our seasonal dances, and our awards banquet at the end of the year. Want to do More? Please volunteer to help at loacl events or become a coach, see the pages above.

The 12th Annual Polar Plunge was held

At The Carolina Beach Boardwalk

The 2016 Polar Plunge and 5K-N-Plunge was held Saturday, February 13 at the Carolina Beach boardwalk. Special Olympics is a Year-round program that supports about 600 local athletes, with no government funding we rely solely on individual and corporate support as well as volunteers to help make our program a success. Due to the support of our sponsors, the plungers and runner, the 12th Annual Polar Plunge was a great success. Please go to the sposor link and support the sponsors who support us.
